First, I’ve committed to raise $3000 for the San Francisco AIDS Foundation and ride my bike 545 miles from San Francisco to Los Angeles over 6 days in June 2009. Riding my bike is my favorite pastime these days but I will need quite a bit of training to manage this marathon. If you can help by donating anything to this cause, follow this link and then click ‘Donate To Support Shannon’. Your donation is tax-deductible. Thank you!
Next, my car needs a lot of work and Addy and I think the best think to do is sell it. I’ve loved this little 325 but ZipCar looks like a smarter choice given the circumstances.
The day after I got the news about my car, I was laid off from Sputnik. I enjoyed working with those guys over the past 32 months but I’m looking forward to finding something just as rewarding. Unfortunately, there’s a lot of lay offs going on now. Times are tough. If you know of someone I should contact, please let me know. Ideally, I’d like to be involved with project/product management for web applications.
As a sidenote, as I was leaving Sputnik for the last time I found my bicycle had a flat. It made me laugh. No, it didn’t start raining.
Adriene is moving out of her place this month and we’ll be officially living together as of November 1st. We got a storage locker and put a lot of both of our things in it so she can have more of her things in our studio apartment. This place is small but we’re pretty happy here. Apartments have been pretty hard to come by in what was our price range; now with these new developments we’re grateful for cheap rent!
After losing a friendly bet over cards and tinto verano while on our Spanish vacation, I’ve committed to making a DJ mix every month for a year. I’ll be revamping the Redlight Music site to accomodate podcasts. I’ve been collecting music more regularly lately and have already found a good deal of good stuff. These mixes will initially contain hot new dance jams but once the platform is in place I’d like to do some mixes from the room full of vinyl sitting here so you can expect some classics, as well as mixes more appropriate for chilling.
Finally, I’ve built this new site around a blog so I can post info I find interesting or useful, or neither. Frequently I find myself solving technical problems which I’ve always wanted to post so that others might have the benefit of my sweat (and so I don’t have to figure it all out again when I come across that problem again).
I hope you’ll add my feed to your RSS reader. Cheers.
