This morning I forgot that my riding shorts were still in the wash, so when Justin came by at 7:20am I wasn’t ready… again. We were ten minutes late for the safety speech as we rode through the Presidio so we decided to skip check-in for today’s LifeCycle training ride and headed directly to the Golden Gate bridge.

Here’s some clothing recommendations for cycling in cold weather and rain. The goal is to keep cycling comfortable and fun, so I’m inclined to keep doing it even when it’s ideal conditions. This stuff will get me down close to around 40-45F and/or in the rain; below that it’s hard to keep my feet warm in cycling shoes. Keep in mind I live in coastal northern California, so these recommendations are not for riding in snow or even below freezing.

On Saturday, October 26th, I managed to get out of the house shortly after 8am and rode to the Presidio Sports Basement in time to do a bit of stretching, fill my bottle with Powerade, and hear the required safety speech.
